US President Joe Biden has issued an executive order to draft generative AI security guidelines. Thus, the request is an important step in controlling the use of technology.

With this, the order aims to create new safety and security standards for AI, safeguard privacy, promote equity and civil rights, and protect the interests of consumers, patients and students.
The guidelines also impose standards against the use of technology in the development of biological materials and advanced cybersecurity programs.
Decrees are measures that do not require discussion of the matter within Congress – that is, only the president’s signature can change a policy or legislation.
As long as it does not violate a law or violate the Constitution, the text must be respected by states and municipalities.

Namely, the order places the US National Institute of Standards and Security in charge of creating the rules for AI models. So, all platforms must meet government requirements before public launch.
The Department of Energy and the Department of Homeland Security will act to defend against potential AI threats to infrastructure.
With this, the bodies will analyze the chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and cybersecurity risks of the technology.
A Biden administration representative explained that the new security rules apply to future AI models.
However, companies such as OpenAi, Meta and Google will be required to share the results of security tests of current platforms.
