Adding, he stated that the “response” of the Biden administration and the American Congress to the conflict is an “impulsive reaction based on confirmation bias, political expediency, intellectual bankruptcy and bureaucratic inertia”.
Thus, the rejection and release of the letter is a rare public act of government dissent.
This is because, according to the Axios portal, it occurs amid the Biden government’s preparation to obtain more military aid for Israel, following the American president’s visit to Tel Aviv.
“But I believe deep in my soul that the response Israel is making, with the support of the United States and maintaining the occupation, will only lead to more suffering for both Israelis and Palestinians,” he said.

Paulo, who cites his personal ties to both peoples, states that his greatest desire is that “the beauty that can be found anywhere in the world” be protected and allowed to flourish for Palestinians and Israelis.
