White assured that the company will make the official announcement as soon as McGregor is ready to compete again, stating, “No, he’s not going to fight in June. When Conor is ready to fight, you know we’re going to announce it. That’s what we do. I don’t know if June is a possibility.”

On December 31, 2023, McGregor had announced on his social networks that his return to the octagon was scheduled for June 29, during International Fight Week, against the American Michael Chandler. However, with Dana White’s statement, the Irishman’s return remains surrounded by uncertainty, including regarding his possible opponent.
Since his last appearance in the Octagon in July 2021, when he suffered a serious leg injury, McGregor has faced a series of uncertainties regarding his return, including issues with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
