Mbappé criticizes PSG’s offensive performance

Date:

Mbappé expressed dissatisfaction after PSG’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle, on Tuesday (28), in the Champions League. The striker sent the ball into the net in stoppage time, after a controversial penalty.

After the game, he criticized the team’s performance, especially in the offensive sector. In an interview with Canal+, Mbappé lamented: “It’s frustrating, because we dominated the opponent with many chances, and they managed to score a goal. We know they were lucky with the goal. It’s not a question of structure or organization; it’s us, the players. We need be more focused after conceding the goal.”

He added: “In a game like this, we need to be prepared. We had several clear opportunities, and normally we would have won easily.” During the match, PSG had 31 shots, while Newcastle had just five. The French club’s coach, Luis Enrique, also commented on the team’s performance, saying: “It’s football, not basketball. We are one of the teams that scores the most goals in the Champions League, but today (Tuesday), that didn’t happen.”

PSG is in second place in Group F and will face Borussia Dortmund away from home in the final round. If they lose, Luis Enrique’s team will be out of the knockout stages if they win the clash between Milan and Newcastle. In the event of a draw, the French team will be eliminated if the English win.
