20 years ago a classic children’s movie premiered. Lilo & Stitch had a large audience for children, and to this day it attracts new viewers. The film tells the story of a little girl who lost her parents, lives with her sister, and tries to find her place in the world. With no friends, she seeks company. On the other hand, the alien Project 626 is trying to break out of the interstellar prison. Their meeting is bombastic, and it’s love at first sight.

Lilo is 6 years old, and lives with her older sister, Nani. Their lives are turned upside down with the arrival of experiment 626, nicknamed by the girl Stitch. Lilo finds him at the animal shelter, and adopts him as if he were a dog. Meanwhile, beings from the universe unsuccessfully try to retrieve the experiment, and capture it. Stitch was created to destroy big cities, but ends up becoming Lilo’s best friend. He learns family values and becomes a great companion for her. The film’s great mantra translates the message: “Ohana means family, family means never leaving or forgetting.” The film pays homage to King Elvis Presley, and to Hawaiian traditions.
The film will get a live-action version, and like other Disney films, it will have its exclusive release on the Disney+ streaming platform. According to DisInsider, the new film will be a hybrid in live action and CGI format, just as it was with The Lion King. Actress names for the role of Lilo have been raised, but Disney has not confirmed anything. Siena Agudong is one of the favorites for the position, due to her resemblance to the character. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich will produce the film. Both worked on the remake of Aladdin. Aloha oe.
